CONE OF EXPERIENCE

CHAPTER 5

                                                            SUMMARY

 The Cone of Experience can be aptly summarized by this Native American Proverb: “Tell me and I”ll forget. Show me and I may not remember. Involve me and I”ll understand.”
Edgar Dale’s Cone of Experience is a visual device that demonstrates the bands of experience arranged according to the degree of abstraction and not the degree of difficulty. The farther we go from the bottom of the cone, the more abstract the experience becomes. These are the elements of the Cone of Experience as arranged from the bottom to the top: Direct Purposeful Experiences; Contrived Experiences; Dramatized Experiences; Demonstrations; Study Trips; Exhibits; Educational Television; Motion Pictures; Recordings, Radio, Still Pictures; Visual Symbols and Verbal Symbols.

 

REFLECTION

I LEARNED THAT THE CONE OF EXPERIENCE HELP AND GIVE US INFORMATION ON WHAT IS THE EFFECTIVE WAY TO DO  OR WHAT THE THING TO DO WHEN WE ARE TEACHING.

TECHNOLOGY:A BOON OR BANE???

 CHAPTER 2

 SUMMARY:         

Day by day, technology advances only to deteriorate the health of those who use it. In the past years, scientists have spoon-fed people of all ages with attractive gadgets. However, the truth is technology has made humans less well-rounded individuals. Technology is a wonderful thing; there are cell phones with internet access and the capability to take pictures and videos. With computers, all the information you could ever want is available within a few keystrokes of a search engine. Contradicting those points is, just like everything else in life. Nothing is ever perfect and technology has its share of flaws. There are calculators, search engines, online forums and instant messengers that are making us socially and mentally handicapped. Video games are giving gamers a false sense of reality and teachings of violence. Finally, technology has in the past and is being used for the wrong reason of destroying the whole universe using weapons of mass destruction.
People have questions every single day, and it is very normal and healthy to ask questions. This promotes the mental wellness of a human being; it also helps you learn more information which contributes to your general knowledge. With the invention of search engines and online forums, it has become easier to get your question answered. This is an asset to humans, however a human can become socially undeveloped and not have the confidence to talk with a person face to face and ask a question. Instant messengers have also contributed to the fact that people find it easier to talk over the internet, rather than face to face. The same rule applies to the mental strength of mankind. Math homework is less than a challenge for students of today. They pick up their calculators, type in a few numbers and write the answer down on the page claiming to their teachers that they have applied all their mental faculties to the questions. 

 REFLECTION:

                  Truly technology bring changes but rapid emerging technology could lead to a a fundamental shift in the way we safeguard human needs. it also packaged with significant dangers. Technology will empower people but it could also be against people without the proper safeguard in place ,possibilities will arouse.
                 I can only say that this technology are often unattended  ,unanticipated ,and unaddressed but it is in our hand ,it depends on us . just remember that we could only see the real effects of technology the day after.!!!!

  CHAPTER 4

                 

             Systematic Approach to Teaching

“A plan that emphasizes the parts may pay the cost of failing to consider the whole, and a plain that emphasizes the whole must pay the cost of failing get down to the real depth with respect to the parts." – C. West Churchman

SUMMARY:

               The focus of systematic instructional approach for teaching is the student. The use of learning materials, equipment and facilities necessitates assigning the personnel to assist the teacher and defining the role of any personnel involved in the preparation, setting and returning of this learning resources. (in some school settings , there is a custodian/ librarian who takes care of the learning resources and / or technician who operates the equipment while teacher facilitates.) the effective use of learning resources is dependent in the expertise of the teacher, motivation of level or responsiveness, and the involvement of the students in the learning process. With the instructional objectives in mind, the teacher implements planned instructions with the use of the selective teaching method, learning activities, and learning materials with the help of other personnel whose role has been defined by the teacher.

               Examples of learning activities that the teacher can choose from, depending on his/her instructional objectives, nature of the lesson content, readiness of the student are reading ,writing ,interviewing ,reporting or doing presentation, discussing, thinking, reflecting, dramatizing, visualizing, creating judging and evaluating.  Some examples of learning resources for instructional use are textbooks, workbooks, programmed materials, computer, television programs,  flat pictures, slides and transparencies , maps, charts, cartoons, posters, models, mock ups, flannel, board materials, chalk boards, real objects and the like. 

              This approach has a purpose which to ensure orderly relationships and interaction of human ,technical and environmental resources to fulfill the goals which have been established for instruction.

REFLECTION 

            

            I learned that 'SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO TEACHING" really help me to have the knowledge to have a good approach or technique of teaching. And as the future educator ,it is important to me to know and understand this lesson ,to know its meaning and elements..and I know IN THE FUTURE i CAN USE  and apply it .

SUMMARY

                      " TECHNOLOGY MAKES THE WORLD THE NEW PLACE"

        Technology has many roles in learning. In terms of  traditional role, technology is a delivery vehicles for instructional lessons. In this role, he learner learns from the technology and the technology serves as a teacher. In other words, the learner learns the content presented by the technology  in the same way that the learner learns knowledge presented by the teacher.   From the traditional point of view, technology serves as source and presenter of knowledge and it is assumed that knowledge is embedded in  technology.

      From the constructivist point of  view, educational technology serves as learning tools that learners learn with.   It engages learners in" active ,constructive, intentional, authentic, and cooperative learning. It provides opportunities for technology and learner interaction for meaningful learning.  Technology  serves as  supporter of knowledge construction such as representing learner's ideas, understanding and beliefs,producing organized,multimedia knowledge bases by learners. It serves as information  vehicles for exploring knowledge to support learning by constructing such as accessing needed information,comparing perspectives ,beliefs and world views.It serves as context to support learning -by - doing like representing and simulating meaningful real- world problems,situation and contexts,defining a safe ,controllable problem space for student thinking.  It serves as a social medium to support learning by conversing like for  instance  collaborating with others, discussing, arguing,and building consensus among members of the community. It serves as  intellectual partner to support learning- by- reflecting such as helping learners articulate and represent what they know,reflecting of what they have learned and  how they come to know it,supporting learner's internal  negotiations  and meaning making.
      Whether  used from traditional or constructivist point of view,when used effectively, research indicates that technology increases student's learning, understanding,and achievement but also augments motivation to learn , encourages collaborative learning and supports the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

                By effectively using the technology, I can now apply my learning.

              

 REFLECTION:

               I learned that technology plays an important role in the learning process . The chalk ,the projector , the laptop ,as well as computers contributes to the learning of the students.,we cant deny that facts that sometimes we need  that technology..that things serves as our companion .our teacher and our friend. HOW ?? Companion in a sense that when the things is so difficult ,technology assess the people. AS a teacher when that technology teaches students how to discover new things and how to answer problems.and last as friend ,which technology help people to make work easily and  fastly.
